I got up this morning, and my fuel gauge read that it was almost empty. The electronic display also said i had 40 miles left. I could have sworn that I had at least 1/2 tank left last night.

So, I went to the gas station, and it was full after only putting 8 gallons in - so i was right, I had about 1/2 tank left. After I filled up, my gas guage read a little over 1/2 full.

Can anyone help me please? I have a 2003 1.8t.

The sending unit in the tank is the problem. there is a DIY repair instruction in the forum.
