Help with "Service!" light on drivers information screen
Hi all,
I have researched the damn service lights and the methods to reset them out the ******* *** for the last few days. I am new to Audi and my A4, but just changed the oil today and want to reset the "Service!" message that appears on my information screen. From what I understand, it seems that most of the posts on resetting the oil light and the service light say that you get a message where the digital odometer normaly shows the trip etc. I get no such message there. I never got a "change the oil" kinda of message, I am just doing it to get on schedule. Non he less, after having the car for 700 miles, 400 miles into it the information screen would say "service in 300 miles" and then again at 200 miles and at 100 untill it just now says "service!" in big bright red letters on the screen. Is this not the notice for oil, or for something else? If so, how the **** can I get that damn thing off. Im read a million times the push and hold right button, turn key to first position, clear with let button, turn off....etc. The car is a 01 2.8 quattro A4. Thanks in advance, and please dont flame, im not new to forums and Ive exhausted the search.Peace.

RE: Help with "Service!" light on drivers information screen
Would this procedure be the same with an '02 A6 Quattro? I know, different beast, but I've searched the forums and tried pulling out left, turning ignition, pushing in right, and releasing. Just changed the oil today, so I want to do it as close to the change as possible.
Thanks!
Thanks!

To reset mine (2002 a4) hold the "wrench" button beneath your gauge cluster , turn the key to the on position "don't crank" and then hit the reset/clear button (next to the wrench). This will clear the "Service" reminder.
