Does anyone have a 2.0T engine that when started up will make a loud and very noticeable "knock" when it first fires? This isn't while cranking, or running, but right when it starts and it only happens once. It is like the engine has one big initial "clank" and then is running fine. None of the service loaner 2.0T cars seem to do the same thing but they are all automatics. I'm curious if this is a characteristic of the manual version? Not that there is any reason for it. The engine should crank and then turn over nice and soft without any loud knocking or thud noise.

 

check the starter motor is secure this thing give a very noticeable bump when loose
