Give me your best price negotiating strategies
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums because I've never owned an Audi. That is about to change in the upcoming weeks. I'm going to lease a new 2006 Audi A4 2.0T automatic with premium package, cold weather package, and probably the technology package. I'm just wondering what kind of strategies do you employ to negotiate price with a dealer? I'm pretty new to car buying and need all the advice I can get.
Thanks in advance !

first things first, figure out the dealers invoice, what THEY paid for the car... www.cars.com usually has it (make sure to factor in dealer cost on any options -- also on www.cars.com usually)
Once you know what they paid... you can start negotiating with confidence...
also, from my experience working for onstar... shop at the end of the month... dealers are trying to meet their quota, and sell X # of cars... so they will sell frighteningly cheap at the end of the month... making 300 bucks is worth their time. The end of the month was busy times at onstar, because sooo many cars were being sold (and so many OnStar systems were getting activated).

"your not even sure this is the right car for you, already looked at Merc or Bmw and were very impressed with that car"
dont let them know how much you like the car.

im in the same situation as dave, would it be a good idea to say what price you want.... on cars.com they pay about 28k for the 2.0T '06 which is what i will be getting.... the advice is good about saying your checking out other cars, cause when i went in to just check it out i said that and the guy changed his tune completely.
Also i was looking at the 350z before and i was on the nissan forums, and they said to deal with everythign over the phone and to ask for the internet team because they can change their prices more than the floor salesmen do.... is this true for audi too, does anyone know?
