GIAC vs. DAHLBACK CHIP
Hi guys! This is my first post and I just wanted to ask you which one do you think is better and why? GIAC is made in America and Dahlback in Sweeden. Personally I'd trust the european company better. Give out your opinions
I had GIAC before and I was pretty happy but I heard about blowing up turbos and not passing inspections. Then, I switched to Dahlback and still thinking it was a waste of money. After I drove it though the ride is so much smoother with a more responsive throttle. I definitely love this chip and the free upgrades that come with it after the different stages.
And I forgot to say congratulations on the forum. I just found out about it last night and I love it.

RE: GIAC vs. DAHLBACK CHIP
well, you'd probably be one of the only guys on here that has a Dahlback. That's definitely too rich for my blood! Most here run GIAC or APR for those that are chipped. Welcome to the forums! You can be our resident Dahlback guru [8D]

RE: GIAC vs. DAHLBACK CHIP
GIAC technology is just as good as Dahlbacks. The difference is that Dalback will give you a tuned software package to meet your car's setup. A few people have it here in the US - Dahlback is getting more popular. But GIAC and has an excellent reputation and I have never heard of blown turbos or not passing inspection (if you do not pass inspection its because something is wrong with your car, not because of the chip)
I have had GIAC before, and just got it again. The ride is not as smooth I agree - GIAC has a very pronounced agressive program.

RE: GIAC vs. DAHLBACK CHIP
I'm not knocking down GIAC because for the period that I had it I loved it. But I really did not pass inspection because of it. I live in NJ and the inspection rules are crazy. When they connect it to the computer it gives out some codes and they couldnt pass me because of them. I tried resetting them and they came on again. Then I removed the chip and they never came back. After that I got my Dahlback. I heard that Dahlback can get the A4 up to 360 hp with their custom K04. Its really expensive though... about $9000 without cluch, intercooler and stuff like that:

RE: GIAC vs. DAHLBACK CHIP
The chip made you fail inspection, yes, but it was most likely not the chip's fault. It is more probable that you had something particular with your car that was made apparent with the increased ouput of the GIAC software - things that would have been within norms while operating at stock levels. There is a multitude of people in NJ using the exact same GIAC software that you had and they don't fail inspection. The Dahlback may have prevented the codes simply because it really is software tuned to your exact car.
There are heavy regulations for inspection in Cincinnati too, I lived there and passed without problems on GIAC software.
heh the K03 is in every 1.8t A4... that is a KKK turbo.
