Is GIAC chip worth it?

RE: Is GIAC chip worth it?
to play the devils advocate here...my buddy just chipped his with a GIAC. Its on a '00 b5 and is recently installed a boost gauge and is running @ 18-20PSI!!! is that safe?
im still contemplating it, $600 is what the shop that does all the work on my audi charges for the "aggresive flash" and they're a certified GIAC dealer.

18-20 psi is what you get with giac. thats perfectly safe. from what ive read the k03 can boost 20psi all day long with spikes at almost 24 psi with no problem. Its when idiots turn the boost up with a mbc and run a constant 24+ psi with spikes nearing 30psi that will kill the fist sized turbo real quick.
$600 seems a little steep.. If its a flash, the flash itself is $500 and it should only take about a half hour in labor and then there is tax. I paid $560 out the door for my giac flash.
