OK, I tried to install my O2 Sensor myself and coouldn't get it out(Pre-Cat) so i am having it installed. Now, how long until I can get my 2002 A4 1.8T Inspected? Doesn't the check engine light and code go out once the new sensor is installed?

Have the installer reset the CEL. A code reader or VAG-COM is needed.
You might try disconnecting the battery, have your radio code available.

 

Thans for the reply - Can Autozone do it with their code reader? I don't have a Vag Com

 

I know they read codes, not sure about resetting them.

Thanks guys - got the O2 Sensor installed and the car failed inspection, took it to a very good shop for a second opinion - Import Autowerks in Raleigh - HIGHLY Recommended for anything for your Audi/BMW/Mercedes - what a great group of honest guys! They ran the Vag Com and found it wasn't the O2 sensor at all - it was a Vacuum Hose leak - Fixed it in 5 minutes FOR FREE just had to pay for the silly hose - drove it for about 100 miles, passed inpection 2 days later!

Thanks again for the help and do what I didn't do - take the car to a reputable shop and have them diagnose the problem 1st before buying parts you don't need! I spent nearly $300 for what should have only cast me $50!
