Getting to 200k miles in an A4
Hi there,
I'm new to the forums, but not to Audi. I'm the only owner of my '06 A4 2.0 Quattro which is currently at 112k miles. I've babied this thing pretty good: once per year service check ups, had the timing belt changed at 96k, etc. I'm starting to think that once/year check ups might be a waste. Other than regular things that require changing (brakes, tires, oil), and tending to a check engine light as soon as it comes up, is once/year service really worth it?
Long winded way of asking what some of you do/did with your A4's to get them up to 200k (and beyond). To be even more specific, how many of you change(d) your transmission fluid? Audi says it's "good for the life of the car", but what do they consider life? 100k? I've heard various mechanics say they would do that for their cars regardless of what Audi says, but just curious what some of you have done.
Thanks.

I am at 160k and rapidly approaching that 200k mark. I do not take it in for yearly service. I can do all that myself (check fluids, belts, brakes, etc...). I do get a safety and emission check every two years when I renew my plates. So far they have never suggested any aditional services (except to ask if I need my oil changed).
I have not yet done anything with the trans. I am starting to think about changing the fluid as it feels a little sluggish to me (not overly so, just like it could take off a bit quicker). Be curious if anyone has serviced their trans.
