Default Gauge Cluster Issues

98 2.8L I recently got this car and I'm already having problems...the ABS light stays on while the brake light constantly blinks. I took it to a shop thinking it was probably a bad ABS censor or something. Anyways I got the car back and now the ABS and brake light doesn't even come on at all, temp gauge isn't working and theres no beeping sound if the lights are left on. I think instead of looking for the actual problem the "mechanic" just removed one of those connectors on the back of the gauge cluster. I checked but all three are connected. At this point I don't wanna go back to that shop so if anyone has any ideas or experiencing similar problems your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure, but perhaps it could be a ground connection in the cluster?

Again, find someone with a vagcom and check for codes in the ABS system to see if there it truly a problem with the brake system.

I was also wondering if a 99 and above gauge cluster would fit work on my 98. The screen in the center of the 99 gauge cluster is slightly differently, plus it has the miles per gallon reading.

get someone to pull up a code, and see if there is an actual problem...but if the brakes work fine, and the car doesnt seem to have any major problems...its usually just a stupid sensor...audi's are netoriously known for have dumb electrical problems...along with BMW's and Benz's
