funny smell inside
Newbie, but want to ask the o.g's for advice...Whenever I drive for a while, I usually around 30mins or sometimes 15 mins, depending on how I drive, when I stop the car at red light, I will start smelling burning oil and/or rubber type smell, (I am thinking maybe burning engine oil) but if I put the air circulation to close I don't smell it. when I am outside the car, I smell it too. What is wrong? any idea guys?

RE: funny smell inside
This past week on my skiing trip, when I would finish the LONG drive UP the mountain, I would step out of the car, and get that smell. It's just the car letting me know that it hates me for making it climb 4000 ft. in less than 15 minutes...

i have the same problem smell that lasts about a minute or two then it goes away until i brake fast or go on high rpms. i took it to a mechanic he said i have a leak we looked couldnt find it. then i drove it and soon as that burnt rubber smell started smelling again i stopped and looked still no leaks. i think it is a plastic burn that is causing this.

Have you seen any smoke under the hood?
I would check below the oil filter for any ooze felt when changing the oil. Check behind the fan to make sure nothing is rubbing against the back of the fan. Check around the exhaust manifolds to see if anything is laying on the manifold or is just too close to the manifold.
Did you recently get new brakes? New rotors have a plastic film coating them that can take a while to burn off. Usually smokes real bad for a day or two and then just smells bad for a week or two.
