I'm replacing the front wheel bearings on a 96 A4 1.8T. I'm wondering if there are any writeups on the subject.

Also, the code for the radio in the book was wrong. How do I reset the radio without the code.

you cant really reset it i dont think. the wheel bearings have to be pressed in with a machine

Do you mean you are in safe mode? The code can also be found in the trunk in various places. Check on the deck lid.

 

yeah Radio cannot be reset without the code. I've never seen it anywhere in the trunk tho.

 

It's not in everyones apparently. I've heard it can be found on a sticker in the spare tire well area or sometimes on the upper deck lid.

 

I found mine on a sticker in the spare tire well but not to everyone. Some dealers remove the sticker when they prepare the car for you. You can always go back to any Audi dealers to recover the code.

Two places. In the wheel well in the trunk should be the sticker with the car codes, paint, etc. In the lower left corner will be the 4 number radio code. It may also be on a small white sticker undr one of the cross membrs of the trunk

 

My fix for the wheel bearing is to turn the radio up real loud. This fixed most problems with my previous vehicle. Of course, when the radio died, I had to buy a new car.

 

Thanks for the info. I was hoping there was a writeup out there with the torque specs and all.

I found the white sticker where the spare tire is. I'm going to try that code once the snow stops. Its different than the one in the little book. *rollseyes*
