I never knew until last week that there is some kinda fluid in rear view mirror. last week it started to leak. and now, the mirror looks all fuzzy -- it's like looking at a photo taken from a really low-res camera.
anyone has an idea on what this fluid is all about and how can re-fill it?

 

It is the liquid crystal for the auto leaking feature. Sorry, I meant the auto dimming feature.

No repair, you will have to get a replacement.

I guess I experienced the same thing, maybe the mess on my dash by the gear selector is from the leaky auto dimming rear view mirror (I posted about products to clean liquid wax/sealant from dash). My rear view mirror is all cloudy and looks foggy. So then my question now is, if the mess from my dash is from this liquid, how do I clean it properly? It feels like splattered wax but it's worse cause I can't even remove it by scraping it.

 

Mirror leak has just happened on my a6.
The liquid has dripped on to auto gearbox plastic surround & there are pitted marks where it has melted
the plastic,.Fortunately there was paperwork on passenger seat or that would have been melted also.

Have put in a complaint to Audi UK, Will need to get a report from local Audi centre to take it further.
Will let you know the outcome.
