fitting boost gauge
I just bought me an Apexi boost gauge for my 98 A4 1.8T quattro

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how hard (or easy) it is to install. If theres anything i should be aware of....

Im going to let an Auto electrician to instal it but he hasnt installed one on an Audi before and im not sure about any of the installation details and how long it may take him to install. Hopefully it wont take very long as he charges $55 an hour.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've never installed an electronic one before, but many have done it, so I assume an auto electrician will have no major trouble.
Here is a link to someone's instructions

fitting boost gauge
Thanx man, although i dont have an electric boost gauge, i have a mechanical one.
Do you, or anyone else know where the vaccum tubing is located in the engine bay where i can cut it to fit the T piece for the boost gauge tubing? Or is there a spare vaccum outlet that you can just attatch the tubing for the boost gauge straight to it?
If you know or have a diagram or picture of where this is, it would be much appreciated.
cheers!

fresh1,

I think I have the perfect website for you. It includes detailed pictures and instructions on a boost guage installation for your model A4. Although, it shows the installations of a VDO boost meter, it is also mechanical, and should work exactly the same way. Here's the website:

http://www.goapr.com/Audi/support/boost_guage_pod.pdf

Good luck!

Okay, sorry about that. I didn't realize it wouldn't take you directly to that file, so what you do is go to www.goapr.com and click on Audi, and then click on customer support. After that, there's a heading about boost guage installation. Click on that and it'll show the detailed pics and instructions. Again, good luck!

RE: fitting boost gauge
I tapped into the rear license plate light wire that goes to the fuse box. I tapped into that line because my VDO gauge is backlit, so when you turn your headlights on your rear license plate light comes on and so does your boost gauge light. If you have a service manual it will tell you what fuse it is.
