First time audi driver and new forum member
Hi guys! Great forum you have here! I just purchased a 2002 Audi 1.8T and hopefully I would get a lot of help from here. No problems yet but you'll here from me if I do.
Do you all have stock cars or did you do some mods to it? Would it be worth it to mod mine?

Welcome to the Audi Forums. i have a 2002 1.8T as well. so far i love it
the first thing that people are gonna tell you to do is get it chipped. There are a lot of different softwares out there...most people recommend either APR, GIAC, or Revo. I have a Wetterauer chip because it came with the car. if i had my choice though i would have gone with the GIAC.
i guess as far as modding goes.....it all depends on what you want to do with the car. keep it stock with a little more juice......or slam it and turn it into a rocket.

Welcome to the club! I am an Audi newbie myself, although I have owned a 1.8T VW Passat for 5 years, so I am no stranger to the platform or to the VW and Passat forums.
With a longitudinally mounted 1.8T, change your oil and filter frequently and use 502.00 oil and the oversize filter (VW part 068-115-561B) because of the turbo and the badly undersized 4-qt. sump.
In answer to your question, my Audi has the 2.8 12V engine, which is essentially unmodifiable.

MmmBoost: what do you mean by chipping it? Can you explain more?
John_E: I bought the maintenance plan with this car and they said they would take care of the oil changes and everything. Do you think they will use the oil and filters that you specified or would they use some cheap stuff?

"Chipping" refers to reprogramming your ecu to remap fuel, and add more boost. It costs about $500, and is the best mod for your money by far. You'll gain about 40 hp.
