first emission test, when?

first emission test, when?
I have a 2007 B7, have ARP software and DV installed
I am wondering if I should get the test pipe. It's not the money issue.
It's about the emission test. I am pretty sure it won't pass California test.
BUT, how many years do I have til the first emission test?

RE: first emission test, when?
If you have a test pipe, you will not pass California emmissions. From what I understand, the smog checks are based on your VIN #. Look at the last #. If it's an even number, then you'll have your smog check every even year (06, 08...), and if your VIN ends in an odd #, it'll be every odd year (07, 09...). I'm pretty sure this is how they do it in Cali. If you want a better-flowing exhaust, I'd suggest a hi-flow cat.

RE: first emission test, when?
I found this link on DMV http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/StdPage....ck/doineed.htm
It said new car doesn't need a smog check til after 6 years.
Since I have a 2007 B7, I am good for 6 years with the test pipe. Is that correct?
Also, how do they smog check a QUATTRO A4?

APR flash,
DV,
Testpipe(thinking)

I think the smog check for new vehicles are extended to 6 or 7 yrs in ca. You quattro may pass the smog check since they can't check it under load, they'll have to run it at idle.
Edkwok, did you go with the DVSFit of the C version DV?

By reading the link, it looks like edkwok can run a test pipe for 5+ years w/o a smog check. If you plan on keeping the car that long, just remember to take the test pipe out before you get your smog check, or else you WILL fail.
As far as checking full-time 4wd cars, they have to run the test at idle and at throttle. This test is easier to pass, because the engine has no load (tires, quattro transmission) to turn. FWD and RWD cars are put on a rolling ramp similar to a dyno test, and subjected to full loads at 15mph and 25mph. Some cars are selected at random to go to a "test only" station, where the tests are a bit harder to pass. So, I guess it's better to have a full-time 4wd car... easier to pass smog in CA.

I have Forge DVSFit and APR Flash, got them done at ecodetuning in Torrance
They are offering their own brand of Testpipe for $100 including installation.
It's not the money. It's I don't wanna get in trouble since it's illegal.
