ok iv wanted an audi for the past 5 years... i finally got a new job and able to get one... anyways all that aside

its my 2nd day having it... and im having this problem. [X(]

This ONLY happens After I JUST start the car...

as i start to push on the Gas i hear a light, brief grinding noise come from the under the hood (front of the car) and it happens EVERYTIME.

i thought maybe it was the transmission engaging... so i tried going from Park to drive while the car was still on, N to drive.. and it didnt do it.
Only right after I start the car and drive off... it doesnt matter if im in Drive or reverse i still hear that grinding noise...

Anyone have a slightest clue/guess what it could be???

if so please let me know... its been really bothering me..

Car = 2004 A4 1.8T

 

It might be the flaps for the a/c opening. Mine does it too but I never worried about it

 

Sometimes a section of the exhaust or the exhaust shield rattles/vibrates at certain engine revolution rates.
Could also be your rotor shields - they may be slightly bent inwards. ALso it may be an idler pully going south.

 

The car is a 2004. Assuming you haven't driven it 50K miles in the last year, you should be under warranty. Ask Audi what it is.
