Default finally building the audi, really building it.

so here's the deal... my father and i haven't been getting along at all for the past few years unfortunately. However, now we have been through some **** and i am at a pretty bad spot in life, so we have decided to do something constructive together. We are both crazy about cars and have decided that it would be a good thing for us to spend time together really building the avant for the track/street application. We are going to split the cost of all parts and finish off the tool collection. He is willing to put his old porsche in storage for the rest of the winter and donate that bay of his garage to the A4. so my question is: which route should i go? I already have everything you see in my Sig, and i have a .56 trim t3/t4 thats not in the car. im not sure if i will use that turbo, but I like the idea of spooling faster than a big gt series. so any suggestions?

if its going to be srictly a track car, i'd do stiffer mounts, ditch the AC, the you also have to do coilovers brakes, umm what else.... really sticky tires.

dont go with a journal bearing turbo unless your on a tight bidget. journal bearings have slower spool than ball bearing. and there are plenty of other ways to help gt30 series and bigger spool faster.

is it gona be a strictly track car? or do you still want to drive it on the streets every so often? and whats your budget/goals?

true, but i already have the t3/t4, i could sell it and put it towards like a 3071r or even 35 series. I plan on still being able to drive it on the street here and there. And it will be a work in progress for a few months, so the funds can be flexible. What kind of standalone is best to get maximum power and tune-ability? Work will be done strictly by me and my father, so labor rates wont be an issue either.

w/o a power goal, there really isnt a way to help. Not to mention there is a 250whp difference between the 3071 and 3582. Sell the t3t4 you have. Also, the t3t4 isnt anything bad, a50 and 60trim trubos make huge power with resonable spool.

034 efi IIc

if your dropping that kind of money, what i would do (plan to do), throw in some rods, slap on a 3076r, and build the head. or if you really want power bore it out to 2.0l and go with a 35r

with todays tunes, anything in the gt30 family and done your not really going to need a sem. People were making 500fwhp on sem and now making 490fwhp on unitronics. Both were using a gt3076r and simular setups (tube man, aeb head, intake manifolds, race gas), the only differnce was the 500whp sem was on a t3 .82 and the 490whp chip tune was on a t25 .72 HKS housing. The HKS housing and flange is smaller. Take that for what you will.

With the release of the 870cc uni file and 1000cc tapp file, gt3582r's will only really need a chip tune also.

power goal??? i want around 450awhp... but im also not looking to spool super late, i have the aeb motor so that saves some money. isnt it really expensive to bore these motors out cause of the cylinder wall material?

so for 450awhp i'm thinking about:
big gt series (3076r?) bigger?
034 standalone
injectors and fuel pump
front mount, (what size piping?) 2.75"? 3"? (how much cfm?)
different exhaust manifold (mine wont bolt up to new turbo right?)
rods (what else needs to be replaced on the bottom end?)
all seals should probably be replaced at my mileage im assuming. i have over 150,000
any suggestions on brands of these items? what else have i overlooked?

Edit: obv im going to grab some coilovers and a bbk also...

big gt series (3076r?) bigger? It can make that on race gas and a good build.
034 standalone If you can install it, do it. Think the IIc is what most use. But you should look at others Like SM4 and Haltech
injectors and fuel pump You will need atleast 750cc injectors, but 870cc would lower the duty cycle. A bosch 044 inline pump will flow enough for your needs
front mount, (what size piping?) 2.75"? 3"? (how much cfm?) 2.5" to ic, 2.75" to the TB is large enough.
different exhaust manifold (mine wont bolt up to new turbo right?) Yes, either go fullrace or 034.
rods (what else needs to be replaced on the bottom end?) All you will basically need is scat rods unless you want to lower compression and/or increase the bore.
all seals should probably be replaced at my mileage im assuming. i have over 150,000 Wouldnt hurt to overhaul the block. Going back to the last post, it will cost ~$500 to clean and bore the block. New pistons are another $600 give or take. You can get a2L crank for $100-250 and have a 2008cc motor with 83mm pistons. With the 83mm pistons alone your right at 1.9L
