Default fender replacement/bumper removal

hey guys im replacing my front passenger side fender after work today. i know theres 5 bolts up top by the hood and then one behind the bumper, maybe one by the door. any others? do i have to take off my bumper to throw the fender on? and if so, does anyone have that front bumper removal diy bookmarked? searched but couldnt find it. i know theres only like 5-6 bolts holding it on but id like that write up because ive seen it before and im not trying to mess anything up. any help would be verrry niiicceeeee

im actually doing the same thing. you need to take the wheel off and remove the inner fender lining. there are 2 bolts near the door that can only be accessed by the inside of the fender. there is also a torx screw at the bottom of the fender behind the tire. you need to remove the bumper at least half way to get access to a plastic peice behind the bumper that has 4 screws, behind that plastic peice is another bolt. to move the bumper you need to remove the bumper grill and there is a 6 mm hex/alan bolt, that the head faces down. its a really long bolt so be patient. all the bolts are 10 mm and im not sure of the size of the torx screws. im pretty sure thats it. and be sure not to strip the bumper bolts, thats what i did and now im stuck untill i can figure out how to get it out. good luck.

nah its a hex bolt and there was some rust inside it that i didnt notice, so when i put the key in it fit, but when i went to turn it the whole inside of the hex just rounded out. im gunna try and find a replacement thats a standartd bolt cause im gunna have to take the bumper off a few times anyway. did you have luck gettin the fender off?

Hi Guys -

Sorry to kick up an old thread, but I'm having a ton of trouble finding a post for doing the same thing on a B6. Some forums say you need to remove the headlights before you can remove the fender on a b6, others say you just need to remove the tire.

Any help would be appreciated.
