Im just curious about this. I know the 3.0 V6 is obviously faster stock. Im looking to purchase this car soon and 1.8t is a little bit cheaper for an extra $500 for a chip I was just wondering what would make more sense. Also what is the 0-60 time on the 1.8t? Isnt it something like 8 seconds?

 

v6 3.0 is a cruiser not a racer even though it has what is needed to blow you away, 1.8t is faster on take off because its less than half the weight so ideal for a traffic light boy/girl racer but that's where it ends

 

So would the 0-60 time just about even out when the 1.8t is chipped? I love Audi's just wish they were a little bit lighter....

 

turbo lag kills stock 1.8 off the line and that was the reason i bought the v6, if your going to do mods get the 1.8, if you want to leave it alone but the 3.0, drive them both and see what you like, i'm still happy with mine 2 years later.

 

Chipped 1.8t is (slightly) faster. But a little more modding and its a lot faster. And with a bigger turbo of any type, there is no comparison.

 

chipped 1.8t w/ intercooler can keep up with a 3.0
chipped 1.8t w/ injectors and intercooler can outrun a 3.0
k04 equipped 1.8t w/ supporting mods will kill a 3.0

I haven't had a chance to run against a S/C 3.0 but if it is anything like a Passat then it would be an interesting race.

Based on my dyno plots the 1.8t would have an advantage until the the high rpm band where the extra HP will take over.

 

I respectfully disagree, intercooler/injectors do nothing without a bigger turbo and the proper programming.

should be like this:

chipped 1.8t can keep up, win by a bumper.
chipped 1.8t with better intake, and exhaust, and dv will outrun it.
k04 equipped 1.8t w/ supporting mods will kill a 3.0

 

what about compared to a 2.0t?
i have a 98 so im 20hp down from there..but my father has a 2.0t and id love to be as quick as him when i get chipped (giac), but i wasnt expecting that much power gain, his car seems MUCH quicker than mine. what about with exhaust and n75? sorry if its a bit off topic, but thanks for any info

 

A 98 1.8t? With chip, exhaust, and DV (probably should put a drop in k&n filter as well) You should see about a 50hp or so gain on your car (Crank HP, not wheels). Depends which chip, etc you go with, but roughly around there.
Guessing 35 CHP from chip, 10 exhaust, 5 intake.

So, if your 150? stock? you should be around 200 CHP with the mods.
