thanks avant, got belt moved but i need to figure out a way to move the fan in front of the radiator backk a couple of inches so i can remove the bottom bolt of the alternator, any help is appreciated..

not easy on the A4 cant you line the fan up so it comes out enough to remove the alternator?? if its the twin electric fans they should be able to be unbolted and removed as a single unit

not a lot of room there to remove it, the bumper will have to come off by the sound of it ( same as a timing belt replacement ) unless its a viscus fan and only one fan there??

so is it a single fan viscus type?? im not sure about the USA cars the UK type have the twin electric fans because of the aircon, can you post any pictures
