i have 1997 audi a4 1.8t Quattro, auto, well i was doing a ricer fly by (not literally) and my buddy says that it sounds like freakn jet plane going by, aminly sounds like a ton of air being pushed out the peashooter stock exhaust, i was curious if anyone elses exhaust did sound this way?? and if not what may be wrong? i don't think anything but i just have to ask cuze now since he said that i can hear it echo off building a bit, so is it normal??

 

if nothin gis around you, you will hear nothing but your motor maybe a little bit of the turbo, but when you are driving next to other cars, yeah, you definately hear the sound of air. I am not sure if it is the turbo or intake but you can hear it. drive in the right lane with your windows down and pay attention to when you pass gaps in the sidewalk. It sounds like a different car because other sounds are being bounced backat you, I think it is fine and I think it sounds cool.

 

JP, Go with it, its tight.... lol. Its the sound of ummmm.... horsepower?!?

 

Its normal, but get a better exhaust so you can push out that air even faster!

I believe thats yur turbo. it sounds like a turbine spooling fast, whichis exastally what it is. if he was on your right, it means he was most likley hearing your turbo spinning.
