Default Exhaust Manifold

When I do my K04 I’m going to do an exhaust manifold too, anyone on here have any recommendations as to who to go with?
The other issue I’m facing is my friend who sold me the car is telling me if I’m going to do a new manifold anyway, I should just go ***** out, and get the whole GT28 setup as it wouldn’t cost that much more since I already have the injectors/fmic and such…would just need ECU/Manifold/DP/and the turbo… Is it really worth the extra 1500 bucks to do the GT28??? I’m still stuck at 22ish PSI to keep the block safe anyway… anyone who has one got any thoughts???

I guess it all depends on what your plans are for the car. If its just to play on the street's save the $ and stick with K04 and get a good suspension and sways. It looks like you are pretty set for most of the mods but I believe the GT28 will need bigger injectors.

get the gt28 or 2871 and your fine. you wont push enough boost to blow the motor on a ko4

If you already have the k04 I would stick with it you will run about 250hp and 300flbs with that set up the GT2871R would require bigger injectors like 650cc and a new ecu tune. There is always more lag with a bigger turbo the pro's are 350hp and 320flbs with the bigger turbo.

y do so many people think they need these huge injectors. 99% of people will never go above 440cc injectors. 650cc is just way over kill

Thanks for the input guys.

Yeah I was worried I would have to go 440 with the GT28, I have to do the manifold anyway because I don’t want a huge power car with terrible throttle response. Guess I will have to price it all. So if I do go GT28 will it push 22-23psi all the way through redline? I suppose I would need 440’s/ECU/Manifold/Turbo..and I think a new downpipe…. Am I missing anything?? PS> Are they salting the roads to high hell where you guys are??, it is so bad here that I can taste it in the air and my eyes are stinging and all watery(I was only outside for 10 minutes on lunch, and 7 of my other co-workers are saying the same thing) Its like the big 3 paid em to salt it like crazy so your car will rust away then they can sell more new ones.

lol i would'nt say its that bad here but there is a nice white crust on the road's.

You will need the 5 bar fpr also. I personally will be getting a hf fuel pump just to be safe plus mine has 70k on it so it will need to be done eventually. Oh and new hoses for intake and turbo.

Oh yeah i have been meaning to get a new 5bar FPR eaither way as well. Was looking into adjustable ones.

Hmm glad you brought the hoses and stuff up, looks like it would be well over 3500 bucks DIY with everything then. May be best to stick with the K04 then hahah, get the turbo+fpr+manifold for 1500ish total...

Thanks for the input. Ill tell my buddy if he wants to see a 1.8t w/disco potato so damn bad he can pay for it.

yea man If it were me id just go all the way and got with the 2871rs.... as long as your on a good tune theres no way your gunna blow the motor at 22 psi, i think arif runs 25-28 on a daily basis and jeff was running like 40 psi for a long time and he didnt blow it up
