Exhaust...the Downpipe...and the Tip???

RE: Exhaust...the Downpipe...and the Tip???
I think I read that the downpipe is about 50% of the stated gains with an exhaust so it is very important. So I gotta figure out where to get one...
BTW I have a 02 A4 1.8TQ Tip...

Didn't want to start a whole new thread since I have this one going...
So I got this reply from ecode tuning in my search for a downpipe for my tip tranny:
But, you can use any downpipe for a B6, however the hanger for the downpipe
will not match up. It is possible to get modified by a muffler shop, or
just cut it off and not use it at all. It would be best to get it modified,
because running without it is not recommended.
So what exactly is the hanger? Anybody got a picture? I assume then that downpipes themselves fit in the same slots for both the manual and automatics however the hanger piece is the difference? Is that correct?
And then tantrumwerks e-mailed me and said that they do in fact make one although I am still investigating.

RE: Exhaust...the Downpipe...and the Tip???
hte hanger wouldn't be hard to modify at all. it'll just be a hook of metal welded to the outside of the pipe. this can be cut off and re-welded. you will see gains without the downpipe... downpipe just adds to those gains. though yes, the cat is fairly restrictive, it is not the only restrictive part of the exhaust system obviously.
