Erratic Gas mileage on my A4...
I filled up my tank on Thursday. My car told me to expect 325 miles. At the gas station, I reset the trip odometer so i could check how accurate the car's estimation was.
Now, it's Sunday night. I just hit 270 on my odometer, and the gas warning has popped up.
I am hovering around 16.5 mpg now, which i think is pretty crappy gas mileage.
2 questions...
1) Why is the mileage reading so erratic?
and
2) Why am i only getting 16.5 mpg.
i have an '02 tiptronic 1.8t.
Thanks.

RE: Erratic Gas mileage on my A4...
alright, well i figured out the erratic gas mileage reading...
if anyone else was wondering about this, it has to do with the air conditioning. i turned off my ac, and the mileage went right back up to the originally expected 325.
so now, i guess my questions are, is 16.5 mpg decent on an '02 tip 1.8t, and is 325 miles per tank alright?

hmm, interesting.
i didn't know the tank on the '02 a4's was 15.6 gallons.
since i bought the car used, i guess the person before me just got really bad mileage due to mostly city driving...cause my avg. mpg reading is only 16.5 mpg. it's slowly been creeping up since i bought the car, so i guess once i put some more driving on it, it'll be around 20 mpg. that will be nice to see.
thanks.
