Hey--I really could use some help if anyone has a minute to help me figure this out (I'm novice to this).

A week ago my 04 A4 1.8T started giving me a red generator error on the dash and then stalled out when idling. I restarted the ignition and it came back OK. Later on I drove for a few hours in stop and go traffic and the EPC symbol popped up.

I parked and later on restarted and then I got the EPC and check engine light. I got home and didn't try the car for a few days. When I tried it next it worked fine in the morning, but did the same red generator error and stalled when idling. Later in the afternoon on the way from work it stalled out, but this time WHILE DRIVING. Right before it did the oil pressure graphic came on. I tried to turn over and it wouldn't.

I called AAA to tow, but decided to try the ignition about 30 mins later. It turned over this time. I unscrewed the oil cap and rescrewed... added a quart of oil and put more coolant in. It runs for short distances but seems like it is losing power at times--sometimes it feels like it is misfiring, but then quickly recovers. RPMs start off at 1100 on idle, then slips back to 800.

I have the VAGCOM codes. Does this mean anything to anyone? I looked up the codes but don't know how to proceed.

Again. any help would be great. I'm bringing it in the mechanic on Friday so it would be cool to have a little heads-up.
