Ever since I got my chip my engine temp will drop down 2-4 marks and then come back up. It does this all the time. I called the place that chipped me and they told me its normal. I think he said the cool air temp needs replaced. Then he said something about black tops versus green tops or something? Just wanted to see if this is normal and how much it costs.

 

coolant temp sensor is bad. they are 6 or 13 bucks at www.ecstuning.com, depending on which color you need.

 

Is it normal to go after chipping? ITs been like this since the day i chipped.

 

i don't think it's related to the chip, they are just known to fail on our cars. there is a write-up for replacing them yourself on aw

 

It's just a weird coincedence that it went bad the hour i chipped it. Thanks for your help bent.

 

no problem. there may be some connection, but i've never heard of a chip causing an ECT sensor to fail. it's not uncommon for them to go out though, mine was bad when i bought my car.
