Default Engine Strength?

Okay, i hvae been talking to my dad. He is totally **** about HP gains on an engine because he blew up something like 4 engines in his mustang when he was a teen.

But here it is. I jstu read from Jeff (Moderator) that he is running 337 whp on a stock motor.
My dad seams to think that if i was getting even like 250 whp, then i would compleetly destroy my engine after 5 drag runs.

If i was like Jeff and had 337 whp, how long would my stock motor last? Anyone know more abotu this? I thought it wouldnt be that bad because it isnt like i am increasing the boost an insain amount, i just am changing wehere the boost it. 25psi at 4k rpm is much different than 25psi till 7k rpm.

it all depends on what turbo your running man, you can safely make 340 350 whp and drive it everyday as much as you like with only minor things here and there that would have probably happened at even 180 whp..... you dad is just old and set in his ways that these lil cars cant handel the power that we are getting out of them... mine was that way till he saw how well mine was running with the stuff i did to it....... but you can safely run 25psi of boost with the right programing and turbo ect every day for the rest of your life

Cool. he keeps giving me these muscle car mags. with articles about guys supering their big blocks and blowing em up. i tell him technology is different and its a much smaller engine.

So if i went with like the 300 or 350 hp apr kit i wouldnt have huge problems like the bottom of my engine falling off?

no you wont have any problems. i ran 40psi on a stock motor for a few days, 30+psi for a few months 6+ then i sold it. the car is still running fine at over 25psi. making over 330whp so you will be fine with 350chp.

first of all, HOLY $HIT!! i didnt know you could pull 40 psi out of that!!

thats nutts.. and even i thouhgt my enging would blow the heck up with that much pressure! question, are you running a boost controller? and if so, does your chip automatically adjust for the added air?

and also, where can i find an AWD dyno?? this is insain. i cant find one anywhere. ilive in the sacramento/folsom./carmichael area and i cant find one. its angering. because i cant tune my car wihtout a dyno!

I am running 25psi for a long time now. I just get a new boost gauge to run 30psi daily. It should not be a problem but there is always risk.

yea a risk but the same risks you run even if your stock, there are always things that could go wrong but your car will most likely be fine with as much power as your gunna throw at it.... its not untill you start acting like tomritt, putting cummins parts in your audi that you need to worry about your internals and what not
