Default Engine Repair

I have a 98 A4 2.8L quattro and I havent done anything to the engine yet. Im thinking about the supercharger and other mods like a chip and intake but what should I get done repair wise before I actually start with the mods. I only have rims, exhaust, and lowering kit. Can yeah all help me out because I keep reading about changing the timing belt and water pump??

Before you do mods, do basic maintenance.
How many miles? What transmission?
When is the last time you changed the plugs and filter? Brake fluid bleed every two years, If tip, drain and fill the transmission fluid. If high mileage change the differential gear oil.
If over 60K miles, time for a timing belt, tensioner, water pump and front engine seals.
Might want to switch out some of the PS fluid too. Only use OEM or Pentosin CHFs11. My NAPA auto parts actually carries the Pentosin.

Control arms and brakes OK? CV boots? Wheel Bearings?
Chip doesn't give much additional power on a 2.8.
