To get the engine codes, you need to have a reader. Autozone will sometimes read the codes for you and give them to you however, your car doesn't start so this is obviously not going to work.

Alternatively, you can find someone with a VAGcom. In the helpful links at the top of the forum list, find the vagcom locator and find someone who will read the codes for you, is willing to come over and read your codes for you..

If the immobilizer light is flashing and with all these no start issues you need a reader coil aka ign switch ( the mechanical part)

But when you couldnt get the car to start earlier did you notice if the light was flashing

Hey Avant you always tell people to check the ground connections, have you any idea how many there are

sure do auditech04 but I'm pointing to the basics like battery/engine because these are the main failings, if it were the lights I would point to there earths/grounds but as its engine fail I think engine/battery first, immobiliser seems to be the problem here though

when diagnosing a engine fail problem the grounding is the most prominent like a car turning the engine cut out then it starts again? engine mounts and bad ground connection due to the engine mount "just a taste when trouble shooting faults" you have to have an open mind as to where to look

Look after a year and 3 months of keeping an open mind and diagnosing faults you start to relize what most of these problems are and know where to look

So in that time i have never once seen a bad ground on these cars allow a car to start and then die and i work on about 6 cars a day along side 26 other guys who do the same
and never seen this problem, im not saying it can happen just that its not the first place i would look

So what kind of experience do you have with Audi's besides owning one and these forums

So you are a shop foreman??

Basicly the only experience i have is with the new stuff 02 and up with the CAN systems and such

I work at the "Worlds largest Audi dealer" so they say but we are huge and we get a lot of volume in terms of work

Too bad most of it is warranty so the job times really suck esp since we charge 132 an hour for CPA jobs
