Default Engine Flush - Amsoil

My A4 1.8T has 41K on it - I think the previous owner was neglectful, so I kinda want to do an Amsoil engine flush.

But, A mechanic friend of mine said that they make him nervous somtimes cause it cause the sludge to build up in the pans afterwards and throw the balance of the engine off. But, I don't understand that concept because I thought Amsoil dissolved the crap in the engine.

Can someone help?!?!?

Thanks,

General Jackson

I don't really know what he is talking about cus anything in the pan isn't really affectin the balance of the engine. unless it gets into the oil pickup. but everyone of those engine flushes that I have see thins out or desolves the oil, you know to get it moving so that it will come out when you drain the pan.

i think that a engine would have to be pretty slugged up if a flush knocks build up off enough to throw it out of balance.

i dont really have a opinion on eninge flushing.

waste of money or does some good???

I always thought that flush were useless but I just bought an a4 with 105k and if it really does something then I think I'll have to try it.

I used automatic transmission fluid to flush mine. It's a lot cheaper than Amsoil.

Just be warned people of cars with high mileage. Sometimes that sludge is all that is holding the engine together.

Sometimes the sludge gets free of valve cover and oil pan and plugs passages up.
