ECU Swap from manual to tiptronic
Can anyone point me in the correct direction here?
I Have a 98 1.8t quattro tiptronic and I'm going to purchase an ECU with a GIAC chip from a 1998 1.8t manual - is there going to be any problem swapping ECU's. They have the same 557P Bosch #'s. I have a VAG-COM Cable (not registered).
Can someone give me a step by step of what I need to do for this swap to go right - Thanks
P.S. I have searched and couldn't find this specific question -

RE: ECU Swap from manual to tiptronic
Well I can only assume so since they have the exact same MFG part #. So if an audi shop/dealer ordered it, they would program it in house for each version. I was thinking that I would have to VAG-COM my car, write some info down and change the new ECU to that. am I totally wrong on this?

I think this is it - breaks down the softcode so you can modify it
