Default ECU Reset after Service

Hi, I own a 03 A4 1.8T, my question is regarding servicing, does the ECU log every reset after each service or does it get completely wiped out ? Many thanks

Dave, many thanks for your reply. So I take it that it would be impossible to check if a service had claimed to have been done at a specific mileage ? The problem is the car was bought from a main dealer, they claimed that the car was serviced (longlife service) prior to it being collected and the service book was stamped accordingly, but 9,000 miles later the service indicator has appeared. The car is on variable service, I know this means it can be anything from 9,500 to 18,000 miles. The car was serviced at this point and the indicator was reset, but looking at the service countdown and the sytle of driving is the same, the indicator, after 2 months of driving still indicates 17,000 or 22 months. I understand that this can change as the quality of the oil reduces over time but not to the point of 9,000 miles surely ?

but only 9,000 miles and 5 months after a service ? seems a little strange to me. Sorry perhaps you misunderstood me, I had the car serviced 9,000 miles after the dealer had serviced it prior to me collecting the car (purchased). 2 months have passed since then and the service indicator reads 17,000 or 22 months to the next service which is what I would have expected when I bought the car in the first place

Could it possible that the main dealer did not reset the service indicator when I purchased the car as teh car had only covered 12,000 miles from new ? Like I said the dealer told me that the car had a longlife service prior to me collecting the car nad the service book reflects this ............. hmmmmmmmmm

how do you know the car was setup for long life intervals ( chances are it isn't ), long life service is set in the computer and the service/oil light can only be reset with the diagnostics so it costs more so you could be getting ripped off when its set for normal service intervals if you get my drift$$$$

the service book/services have the longlife service ticked, the dealer also told me that the car was already setup for longlife service and the indicator at the moment indicates 17,000 miles or 22 months (whatever days) to the next service
