ebay short shifter?

RE: ebay short shifter?
I finally did mine today.
It was a lot easier than whatI saw on diy pages. I did not need to go many things and adjustments that diy pages describe.
I have 1998.5 A4 1.8T.
It took about 1.5 hours because of I did not have hex socket wrench. I bought it after I'm done with the job to thight the bolds. You better have it before you start the job. It can save at least 40mins. (it's pita to put shift connections to transmission bolds back with L shape hex)
I used last hole which is the shortest.
There is before;
After;
This is everything I recieved but did not even used the most of that small things.
It fells great and it's so easy to do it, at least for 98.5 A4s.
I also didrandom open/close moonroof diy and fixed it very well, no more random open/close moonroof.
I feel like I have a new car

But yeah, it's kind of a subtle difference at first... I swear, it's more noticable going back to a long throw car. They feel so gross!

RE: ebay short shifter?
I have installed the e-bay ss and everything was fine till I went for a test shift through all the gears (with car off). I cannot seem to shift into 5th or R. I have been playing with the alignment of both the shifter brace bolt and the selector rod below. Is there something else I need to do to gain access to 5th and R? It seems as if the bottom shifter fork is hitting the side walls and not allowing access to 5th and R. Advice?

RE: ebay short shifter?
i put mine in last week, and it worked, but i put the blue thing in upside down, and forgot the spring.. so it hit the bottom plastic thing.. so last night i took it out and fixed everything, works good now.. a little difficult to get into reverse though.. but i can deal with it
over all, did what it should shortened the shift, and shortened shfter length
cons, hard to get into reverse, and there is nothing to keep the shift boot up, there is also a little more verticle play then i would like
i'd give install a 5-10 because of the need for a few tools you may not have (circlip pliars, torx set)
but for a little over 30 dollars shipped, well worth it
