does a 'theft title' actually exist? or a 'salvage' due to theft? (sounds like bs to me)

LIke the question states...can a car get a 'salvage' title from being ripped off? sounds like bs and someone trying to cover an accident...Anyone?
i.e.
"car has a theft recovery salvage title but no accidents. only damage done was the stolen bumper covers, headlights and front suspension. Once again .... NO ACCIDENTS. Carfaq will confirm this as well."

yes ive know a few people that have boughten cars like that its bc the thieves damage the car so much it becomes salvaged and also if the person has their upgrades insured that also causes the salvage its a % of damage to the cars value

yes a salvage title due to theft is legit, even if the damage done wasn't enough to total the car. as soon as you file a police report for a stolen vehicle they send the info to the dmv and from then on it has a salvaged title. at least that's how it is in california. the DMV is state-run, so it will probably be different in many states....
