Let us know if it was a 4 beer job! When you put the lights back together, have a set of the silver looking amber bulbs for the corners to put in, it looks much better than the orange.

Yeah, definitely have some lightbulbs ready. I went the "legal" route and spray-painted my amber bulbs silver....this way they still glow orange when the headlights are on or when turning, don't want to attract attention from the 5-0.

I'd advise using a dremel kit to drill out the tabs...I thought it was a little easier to control.

Also, when it comes to breaking up the amber inserts, I would advise against using needlenose pliars to do the cutting...you want some wire snips, or something with an edge. Since the needlenose pliars are flat, you end up having to exert a LOT of force on the plastic insert, then twisting it to get it to break. This will lead to the scratching of the silver paint inside assembly, which scratches VERY easily. Something with a sharp edge will make it easier to cut up into pieces that can be removed.

Oh, and buy a can of compressed air from OfficeMax beforehand. You definitely don't want to screw that sucker back together, only to notice tiny pieces of amber plastic still floating around inside....and yes, it WILL break into small pieces, so clean that stuff out.

SOOOO happy with the way mine turned out...looks great with the silver.

yeah i plan on doing this acutally pretty soon.. travis, that's a good idea with the coat hanger.. i never thought of that.. we'll have to talk about that one when i'm ready to do it ;] it will look good with my clear sidemarkers

 

i dont want to sound like a dick cause you probably already now this but you have 2 peice so you dont have to do this, you could either buy clear corners or go one piece and then it already has the amber out... again im not trying to be a jerk, cause im sure you know

 

Just make sure you have the right tools, and that you take your time.

no its not too bad at all only for the drilling part which can be frightening at times!

 

Just be very careful. I drilled my holes a little larger than would have liked. The first one I drilled until it was loose. The second I drilled out a little at a time. Then I took a screw driver and a hammer, placed on the orange lens rim and lightly tapped. This broke the lens loose and didn't give me bit holes like the fist one, just the little rectangular tab holes.
