holy crap.
I simply used bondo, then painted it with spray vinyl - here are some pics of the creation of the pod.
The trick is to get it perfectly sanded. I used Bondo Putty (the orange stuff) to fill in the little pinholes left by the regular bondo.
Then prime it. Then spray it with liquid vinyl (aka vinyl dye) in a dust proof environment. I took a plastic painting dropcloth and hung it from the ceiling in the garage to form a tent.
