Stock or chipped, the engine shouldnt detonate unless something is wrong like a vac leak or bad maf or something unrelated to the ecu's tuning.

 

If you don't have an IC it would help.

If it is pinging without a chip, chipping the car might make it worse since you are running higher boost levels.

From what I have gathered you might want to check your spark plugs and fuel filter as it might be clogged if it has never been replaced

 

i will attempt this this weekend. are fuel filters??? do you recommend the oem plugs?
