Default Dashboard Light

So, as usual when I am on the road something goes wrong. My wife informed me on the phone last night, while she was driving our 2000 Audi A4 1.8 Quatro a light on the dashboard came on that was "kidney shaped with a line through it". She claims she looked in the manual but could not find anything about it. Anyone have an idea what the light means and if we should not drive the car or is it OK to drive? She also claimed it drove pretty rough after that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The "kidney-shaped" description has thrown me off...I'm thinking it might be your speed-warning, which looks more like a circle with a line through it, and the number "1" or "2" in one of the upper corners of the circle. Probably not the same thing that your seeing. Could be a bulb out?
