Sorry...I haven't really been following the thread, and something similar actually happened to my friend. His hood wasn't closing right because there was a slim jim blocking it. Stranger things have happened.

 

Can I ask what a slim jim is?

same thing happened to me, i ignored untill one time i go to close and as its closing something falls and hits me on the head, it was a plastic piece about 10 inches long and half an inch wide with a whole on one end. i was able to put it back on, it went on the driver's side of the crack.

 

i had mine on vent and then when i went to close it a heard a snap then crunching noises as it closed. When i pulled the sun roof back i found plastic everywhere and then when i went to close it, it would move about 3 inches then go back. After my friend watched it when i went to close it one side was moving before the other so we pulled on the one side gently and i just figured that's what i would have to do from then on and it wouldn't be that big of a problem but the next time i pulled it back it woudn't close with me trying to guide it and it makes a loud clicking sound toward the front so i took it down to the shop and they said it will cost ne where from $1,000 to $3,000!!!! now i only have the plastic part that slides back and forth to keep the rain out!
