Don't know if anyone has experienced this but I hooked up my amp and sub and noticed that when I took the keys out of the ignition and pushed the radio, it came on. I never tried this before the install so I do not know if it was a pre-existing condition. All I know is that it can't be good. If I turn the ignition off the radio turns off like normal. If you touch the radio with the key out, then it comes to life again???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Radio in the 1996 A4 is geared towards some security feature. It there as multipleissues trying to make sense of the factory radio with the car...I had one too...I decided to just save up and buy a new CD Deck and installed it...it saves a lot of headaches but well worth it....basically just posting that you might be in a situation were you may need to have a certified Audi technician to look into it..but wait...thats close to getting a new deck....get my drift?... good luck

 

this is normal, you have nothing to worry about...there are a few cars that work this way, the radio draws so little power that it's ok for it to run with the car off

 

it is normal and nice to be able to have radio on without key.along with interior lights,the radio will automatically turn off in 15 minutes if/when left on so not to drain the power.and then you can just hit power again for another 15...so on

 

also, your windows will continue to work after shut down for 15 minutes unless you open a door.
