My buddies 1.8t had same symptoms with crank/no start, problem was hall sender/cam position sensor.If u have access to an o scope or graphing multimeter u can check it out

 

There aren't any fuses under that relay in the pic?

There is some info in your pm for you but it deffintly sounds like you have a faulty crank sensor with what you explained. I would try to get one today since tommorow is turkey day

 

I know dealer did not have it in stock, I asked them yesterday. Let me call them if they can get it today.

 

I was supposed to be comming out to columbus today to pick up cars(I could have brought you one) but I cant though. I do think there is a euclid auto parts out there. They may have and dont forget vw uses the same sensor you may want to get the part number from audi and then call a v-dub deal

 

I just called MAG (Midwestern Auto Group) and did not have it. He said VW will be close all week this week so if the part is not in stock, I will not have any chance to get it until next week. I'll call International Parts to seeif they have it.
