correct spot for jack/stands?
Alright, so noob question...and apologies for the crappy cell phone picture....
I was under the car tonight, and I heard a sound coming from near my jack stands that sounded like a small piece of metal breaking and dropping on the floor. Needless to say, NOT a sound you like to hear when you're under the car. So I got a little spooked and crawled out.
Is this a safe spot for the jacking/floor jacks? I turns out the jack had rubbed up agains the pinch weld and snapped through one of the screws going through the undercoating...I don't think it's a big deal, but it got me out under the car in a hurry!
I've also got some crappy Harbor Frieght jack stands that have a U-shaped surface, so I'm gonna get someplywood or something to spread the load tomorrow. I think its gouging my undercoating.

And just so this isn't a completely worthless post for anyone searching the archives...some great info on jack points can be found here:
