Default Coolant Leak

First off some background info on my car its a 1996 A4 2.8 with 100,000 miles

What happened, yesterday I got an oil change at grease monkey and when I got home about 30 seconds after I turned off my car it started to smoke, when I checked all my fluids everything was OK so I just figured they tried to top off my coolant or something, no big deal.

Today, after turning my car off from a 20 min. drive the same thing happened only this time all my coolant or at least everything in the reservoir drained out. So now I have to get my car towed, try and fill it up and make it to a garage or pray its some thing easy like a hose that I could fix.

So has anyone else had this problem or know what it might be (did grease monkey do it) and how best to fix it? please let me know, the last thing I need right now is another 1k bill from Audi.

you shouldn't take your car to places like grease monkey because most of them don't know that audis take a special fluid for virtually everything. hopefully they didn't try to top off your coolant or you'll have to flush your system. and don't put penzoil or any regular coolant in there, it has to be audi coolant, i believe it's called g12 coolant?

Ya definitely, I think it was leaking in the area around the front of the block, maybe the radiator, but I’m not to sure.

well there are plenty of hoses and spots for it to leak. You are basically going to have to look for white crust buildup or wetness. Also check the color of the fluid. If they topped it off with green coolant it should have turned a nasty brown color.

I think I saw a plug near the oil filter with a little bit of white crusty stuff around it. Think this might be the problem?
