Control arms
I have problems,I hear terrible high-pitch squeaking noise from back(both left and right) exept when its raining,I`m not sure if it is control arms,and from front left I hear noise like two baloons rub,my car is a4 1.8tqm 1995. with eibach springs and stock shocks.Is there mayle kit for back arms too,cause I`m going to replace them both front and back?Car`s handling and performance are pretty good,only I hate that noise ...What should I do?

I have the same problem. When I turn my steering to far left or far right it seems to makenoise like two balloons rubbing. I have changed the control arms on both sides front left and right, upper and lower.
The noise is still there. So far I think it’s the front leftinner tie rod which is about to die on me or could be the rack and pinion. Scary stuff. But before I get my hands dirty again does anyone else had this problem and have found a remedy.
While I am driving I don't notice that sound, only time I can hear it is when I have to park the car and I turn the steering to maneuver it to park.

I took the car to shop and the guys said the control arm is fine, tie rods seems okay both the inner and outter.
The mechanic recommended me to change the strut. He added that the noise is comming from the strut mount. According the mechanic that strut mount rubs against the coil spring or the strut while taking sharp turns.
Now I agreed to him because Audi rubbers give up much early due to itssoftcomposit just like control arm rubber bushings.
Now the strut mount is like $10 each, would it be better to change the mount or the whole strut?

I have the same problem, but the noise in mine only happens when been on the road for awhile(like 30 mins).
I traced it and it's coming from the front. right side. I did I search and it seems like it could be the upper control arms.(I think). The lowers were already changed a few months ago.
My question is, is it safe for me to wait awhile before getting it done or should I have it done ASAP?

The noise from the upper side is very tricky. I thought too that the noise was coming from the upper control arms but the fact was it was not the control arms (In my case). You see the upper control arms, the upper strut mount and the tie rods are all very close to each other. It was very hard for me to judge just by looking and hearing the sound. Honestly I was so f@*king pissed that the noise was still there after changing the both sides control arms, upper and lower.I am still driving around with the noise. I am not going to touch it unless and until I pin point the noiseto its origin.
There is not a lot of information in this forum about thisrubbing noise. I guess everybody tried all different stuff andchanged all sorts of parts out of dozen stuffone of it did the trick.So it’s really hard to give advice on what exactly is that problem.
So far I know its rubber, rubbing against rubber or the body with a smooth or painted surface. It’s a rubber at a tight spot. It is definitely not metal so tie rods cancels out. Usually tie rods are one of the very rare things that ware out.
I’ll keep you posted and hope the same from you.

I think my problem is solved. So far so good! I brought it to a suspension specialist shop over here this morning. They opened it opened it up then they told me that it would be very hard to identify the problem because it only appears after around a 45 min drive.
They suggested to do their specialty, dismantled all the control arms, inject them with grease and they return it. It took almost the whole day but now the problem seems solved. Even my abs light problem has come on again since. I will be observing more, hopfully the problems solve and it helps out others with this problem.
