My car does the same thing and it is only when the temp is at or below 35. I was told its not a problem. The only theory i can come up with is since its really cold the motor needs to be brought up to temp slower to prevent damage to parts. And oil is thicker which will circulate slower.

That makes sense.

Thanks guys. Guess it's fine then. I just wanted to make sure I didn't have a balky temperature sensor or something making the 'puter think the engine was warm or something. [8D]

Depending on your mileage, its not that bad of an idea to replace the temp sensor anyway. They get corroded over time and can have shifty sensing which = shifty engine performance at start up and normal running temps.
