Default Clutch Question

I bought an ECS tuning Spark Plug and Coil Pack Kit (which is awesome by the way, really good and practical design on the Hitachi Coil Packs) and intalled it last night. Victory was never so sweet until i noticed that my clutch is going bad, it goes into first gear really hard. Can any of you tell me how bad of a sign this is? (the car is a B6 1.8TQMS with 115k miles on it and as far as i know the clutch has not been replaced since new. I was looking at two clutch kits, please tell me if you know any better ones (please keep in mind that i'm on a budget, and thinking of going no bigger than a gt28rs).

ECS tuning Clutch Kit (ECS RA4 Clutch Conversion, Forged Steel $799): http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...ategory=Clutch

Awe Tuning Clutch Kit (I was thinking about Stage II $849): http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shar...L=AWEClutchKit

Also, how hard is this to do yourself?

it takes awhile cause of quattro, but its pretty straightforward. and you should get a southbend clutch. awe kits are just overpriced southbend clutches. stage 2 if your just gona chip, stage 3(or higher) if you gona go BT

Any other input on this, not that i dont trust you Chaos922887, but more opinions will help. Also, Awe tuning is offering a full kit, not just the flywheel. Has any of you done this and which products did you purchase? any recommendations?

i agree those kits are WAY overpriced for the value... southbend offers stock feeling clutches to clutches that can handle any turbo u ever put in the car.. plus they offer free flywheel resurfacing.. lightweight flywheels will chatter if that bothers you

i am currently doing a clutch replacement , i chose a southbend FE SS... definitely overkill for my setup but hey...

you can see some pics of my fun

same here. but when i go BT i won't have to worry about it at all, no matter the setup. might as well do it right the first time, and i love the way the clutch feels
