You're just un-bolting the rear of the subframe, the engine wouldn't fall even if you did un-bolt the subframe, it would hang on the suspension. Now that wouldn't be good for it or the wiring harness, but un-bolting just the two large bolts on the rear of the subframe won't hurt it. You might need a couple of jacks to get it back up when your done though.

but do you have to take the driveshaft out? or how exactly do you go about doing it?. you drop the whole trans..correct?

the flywheel will effect your revving. and(as i've heard) you'll get a considererable amount of chater.
the clutch will just help you sustain a power transfer not give you any

The clutch is cake on a 1.8T, you just need the clutch alignment tool and your all set.
P.S. stop making cincyTT blow O-rings and search before posting.

NO! you don't gain power from a clutch
the flywheel will effect your revving. and(as i've heard) you'll get a considererable amount of chater.
