clunking noise when stopping
i've been having this problem now for about a couple of weeks when ever i'm slowing down to stop at slow speeds i feel and hear a clunk from the front of my car it only happens just as i'm about to stop and the car settles, i can feel it in the steering wheel and in the brake pedel. Sometimes when i go over bumps at slow speeds i hear and feel it again, so i've checked control arms, bushings, but don't know where else to check everything that connects to the wheel is tight any other suggestions it's driving me nuts? thanks

i took it to the shop and they said that the control arms and tie rods were fine, the shop wasn't a true audi shop i just knew someone that could look at real quick for me but what else do you think it could be?

If you have tiptronic/auto tranny, it could be that the feeling is when it downshifts when you come to a stop. Ive heard that dirty connections under the car on the tranny's wiring harness/conncectors can cause that, and you should clean them. If your not tip. dont worry about that then. i dont know what else it could be if your control arms/tie rods are good.

Also your front engine/snub mount might be rotted out. It helps as a buffer for when the engine rocks back and forth during acceleration/shifting/downshifting. If its bad youll have more slack in the egnine movements which will generate a clunking feel during those situations.
