close call...

RE: close call...
18t - both the incidences mentioned in this post are the two times i messed up my car, heh.
first the ice and going up on the curb.
the only other thing that has happened was when i somehow managed to crack my oilpan by bottoming out really hard when one road met another road and there was a huge "hump." i was going a little fast considering i didn't really know the road.
shelled out 1000 dollars for the two things together.
mistakes can be expensive.
here's a link to the thread where i posted a pic of my ice incident, (second post):

RE: close call...
1. Stop racing on the road. Next time you might kill yourself or some poor schmuck walking on the side of the road or some old lady in her Buick. At best, you get sued, pay big fines, lose your license. At worst, you'll end up in the slammer for involuntary manslaughter with a permanent record that will prevent you from getting a decent job for the rest of your life (forget IBM, Intel, any company that requires a security clearance, any law firm, any investment-type company, any bank, any defense contractor, any public school, etc.) What will your mother think? What will your grandmother think? (2 good questions to live by!)
2. Yes, I did this a few times when I was your age and I finally got smart before I hurt anyone.
3. Spirited driving = okay. Hauling ***/racing = not okay.
4. Wanna really go fast? Find a race track that offers a track day or go to a racing school like Skip Barber for a day.
I don't mean to be preachy, but this is too important. Have some fun, but please be safe.

RE: close call...
Yea I have had my share of close calls... actually put the family's carolla up on two wheels going too fast around a turn when I was 17. That was enough to scare the crap out of me. I drive the audi hard sometimes, but haven't had anything close yet (knock on wood).
I've had an off-duty cop knock on my door and give me **** for speeding by his house *apparently* when he was watering his lawn - I live in the burbs. I never speed in the suburbs, too many kids and too many unpredictable people pulling out of their driveways not looking.
