Default Climate Control internal temp sensor

I have a problem with the climate control in my 1996 B5 A4 in that it blows warm air through the side vents although the temperature is set to low. Although the diagnostic codes give no error, it shows the digital value of the instrument panel sensor at zero. Does anybody have any experience with these sensors giving problems and how to replace them? I have removed the radio and trim panel and can see the sensor but can not see any way of removing it. Do they sometimes stop working or am I barking up the wrong tree?

recharge the A/C. I'm 90% positive its not blowing out nearly as cold as it should.

I had the same problem too. You have to have it recharged by someone. You can;t do it youself. I brought it to sears. $106 and it was worth every penny.
